I’m a professional writer.
I started in journalism before migrating into government, politics and public policy, working for elected officials and nonprofit organizations.
Starting in 2002, I worked in education in Chicago, transitioned to Washington for the first Obama term and then launched a nonprofit called Education Post aimed at elevating the voices of parents, teachers and children in ongoing education debates.
For the last five years I have worked in violence prevention on behalf of a Chicago organization founded by Arne Duncan. On various platforms, I continue to weigh in on politics and policy.
